What is Reiki?

​One of the simplest, oldest and possibly the most effective methods of holistic healing, Reiki enhances life force and assists the body to mobilise healing resources.

Reiki is the Japanese word for 'universal energy' and is used to describe the energy which flows along acupuncture meridians and permeates the physical body.

Some of the uses of Reiki include:

• the release of stress

• the release of trauma

• the release of pain

• the release of long term chronic pain

All of us use Reiki in some form, for example:

• the mother who puts her hand on her child’s bruised head

• touching yourself when you are hurting

• placing hands on face for toothache

• placing hands on head for headaches.

What makes the giving of Reiki special is this life force energy (which is common to all), has been powerfully strengthened and heightened in the Reiki trained person. They become a clear channel for the healing and vitality the energy brings to living things towards which it is directed.

How is this gift acquired?

Four procedures take place and your energy field’s ‘antenna’ is fine-tuned by the Reiki Master/Teacher. The final stage ensures that access to Reiki energy is available for the rest of your life.

No further Reiki training is required, although some students may choose to progress to advanced levels which enhances telepathic insights into health problems and destructive habits, as well as empowering energy transmission from a distance.

​Reiki energy is experienced through the flow of energy from the hands of the practitioner to the subject in varying ways. It may feel warm, sometimes hot, or tingling. Occasionally it may feel quite chilly or may be observed as a tremor or a direct shaking. It is experienced as a surging feeling of unconditional love, joy and forgiveness.

The Levels of Reiki

In short, Reiki Level 1 is about using the gift of reiki on yourself or someone you love, Reiki Level 2 expands your knowledge to be able to give Reiki to others.

Once you have mastered the art of Reiki you may then decide to become a Reiki Master.

Becky Evans is a highly intuitive therapist and Reiki Master who has years of experience giving Reiki to others in a clinical setting. As a mum of four, she likes to be able to help her children through life's rollercoasters with Reiki combined with emotional aromatherapy.

Her teaching style is casual but professional, allows time for your questions and limits her class sizes to only two people at a time.
